Description

American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification Courses: Essential Training for Lifesavers. The American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification course is a critical training program designed for healthcare professionals and first responders. This course equips participants with the skills necessary to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) effectively. Who Should Take the BLS Course? The BLS CPR certification course is ideal for medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, dental professionals, medical assistants, and other allied health personnel. It is also required for students entering medical or nursing school, as well as individuals working in hospitals, clinics, or emergency response settings. Many employers in the healthcare field require a valid BLS certification card as a condition of employment. Course Content and Skills Covered The BLS course covers a variety of lifesaving techniques that are essential in both in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Key components include: High-quality adult, child, and infant CPR, Use of a bag-mask device and AED, Two-rescuer CPR techniques, Relief of choking in responsive and unresponsive victims, Team dynamics and communication during resuscitation. The curriculum reflects the latest science from the AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). Certification and Course Duration Upon successful completion of the course and skills evaluation, participants receive an official AHA BLS Provider eCard, valid for two years. The course typically takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete, depending on the format and number of participants. Recertification is required every two years, and refresher courses help maintain skills and stay current with guideline updates.
